As a response to modern architecture, Robert Venturi has crafted a unique mannerist style that combines complex forms and symbolism to re-humanize the environments in which we live and work. This new language for contemporary architecture was articulated in the seminal books, Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture (with Denise Scott Brown) and Learning from Las Vegas (with Denise Scott Brown and Steven Izenour). Venturi’s ideas have been realized around the world -- from the ground-breaking Vanna Venturi House in Chestnut Hill to the Sainsbury Wing of London’s National Gallery, from the Mielparque Nikko Kirifuri Hotel and Spa in Japan to labs, libraries and campus centers at the University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, Yale and his alma mater Princeton.

His Vanna Venturi House was honored by the United States Post Office with a commemorative stamp in 2005 as part of its Masterworks of Modern American Architecture series. He and his partner Denise Scott Brown have been awarded the National Medal of the Arts, authorized by Congress to recognize those "who, in the President’s judgment, are deserving of special recognition by reason of their outstanding contributions to the excellence, growth, support and availability of the arts in the United States." Venturi was also honored with the Pritzker Architecture Prize for having "expanded and redefined the limits of the art of architecture in this century, as perhaps no other has through his theories and built works."

Pembroke North is being developed by Razak Company, a Philadelphia-based real estate company dedicated to creating intelligently designed and environmentally responsible projects in the Philadelphia region. The company seeks out opportunities in existing communities, working with top designers and local government to enhance the environment and help the region better utilize its existing infrastructure and resources.

The company was founded by Alan Razak, whose 30 years of residential and commercial real estate experience have encompassed development and project management, finance, design and consulting. He began his career as an architect, holds a Bachelor of Science in Arts and Design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington, and a MBA with a concentration in real estate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Razak has served on the Executive Committee of the Central Philadelphia Development Corporation’s Board of Directors and is a member of the Urban Land Institute. Prior to forming Razak Company, he was a principal with Radnor Advisors, Inc. Razak has also managed the real estate consulting group for Insignia/ESG’s Philadelphia office and directed Insignia's Technology Practice Group worldwide. Previously, he was a partner at Rouse and Associates, developer of several Philadelphia landmarks such as Liberty Place, Philadelphia Stock Exchange and Sheraton Society Hill. During the 1980’s, he worked on numerous historic residential rehabilitation projects in Center City Philadelphia, including Strawberry Court, Bank Street Court and The Touraine.
